The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jake Golday, the 94th pick, roughly 35 picks past where he belonged. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They are betting Green proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
The Jaguars paired the rookies with proven help, Payton Wilson leading the way. On the needs board they went 8 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caleb Banks at pick No. 51. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Anthony Hill Jr. in Round 2, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
The board fumbled Eli Stowers all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Zachariah Branch was still sitting there in the 83rd pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in No. 85, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Jake Golday here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Connor Lew in pick 104 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Bryce Lance in slot 105, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in No. 127, with Davison Igbinosun worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Taylen Green in Round 5, Pick 19, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid up for Zane Durant at slot 168 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jeff Caldwell at pick No. 182 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Trey Zuhn III at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
