Somebody took the Chiefs to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. A mixed bag that lands at C-.
Landing Oladapo that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Hart pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with tight end, quarterback and other spots still on the board.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
If Brian Thomas Jr. and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
DJ James is a better player than the 64th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Patrick Paul in the 77th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson slipping to No. 95 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They bypassed pressing needs at tight end, quarterback and other spots to take Cam Hart, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Nice patience on McKinnley Jackson, who had no business lasting to pick No. 132. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nothing to complain about; Tommy Eichenberg went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Mason McCormick at the 159th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Kitan Oladapo at slot 173 is a fall that decides a draft. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
