You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cowboys took DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 245, roughly 20 spots before his name belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The King steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They read the board right and Kalen King was the payoff at slot 56. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Tommy Eichenberg at Round 4, Pick 24, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Javon Baker in pick 174 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jase McClellan in the 212th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
DeMonte Capehart in pick No. 245 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
