The Cardinals spent real capital to be 118 picks early on Trey Zuhn III, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Landing Johnson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 16 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Milroe. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 78, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Rylie Mills, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tez Johnson at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
