The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Isaiah Davis, the No. 156 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 183 like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Ikem Ekwonu deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
If Jones pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Cooper DeJean went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid sticker price for Kris Jenkins in the 47th overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Payton Wilson was the payoff at pick No. 70. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A premium they did not need to pay, Elijah Jones a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Roger Rosengarten in slot 141. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let a running back like Isaiah Davis reach No. 183 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
