The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Melton. They will need Eboigbe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Drake Maye in the 3rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kiran Amegadjie in Round 3, Pick 4 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
