The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Robert Spears-Jennings slide 92 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The Helm reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
So much rides on Mason Graham that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
They robbed the room for Abdul Carter here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They talked themselves into Alfred Collins at pick 75, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled TreVeyon Henderson all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Kaleb Johnson in No. 114 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gunnar Helm. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Danny Stutsman still on the board at the 169th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Robert Spears-Jennings at pick No. 170 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ar'maj Reed-Adams in the 171st pick, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach on Miles Frazier in pick No. 186; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Kevin Winston Jr. in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
