This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ainias Smith, the No. 141 name on the board, stolen at the 172nd pick. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If Milton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
Edgerrin Cooper at the 51st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
By-the-book stuff, T.J. Tampa at No. 53 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for James Williams in the 119th overall pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good price on Elijah Jones in pick No. 120, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 25. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached a country mile for Kendall Milton at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ainias Smith in pick 172, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Kitan Oladapo all the way to the 178th pick, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Magee at Round 6, Pick 35, and it noticed. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
