The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Javon Foster, the Round 6 slot, roughly 75 picks past where he belonged.
McGlothern has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
They jumped the gun on Jackson Powers-Johnson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kris Jenkins at pick No. 57. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Malachi Corley is a better player than the 88th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Ray Davis at slot 91 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Will Shipley at pick 125 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 135th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor itch, scratched.
Javon Foster in Round 6, Pick 28 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Demani Richardson well ahead of where he belonged. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dwight McGlothern this early at No. 219. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eric Gentry. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
