Some picks age like wine; Dwight McGlothern at pick 219 will need to, sitting 38 spots clear of his grade. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Landing Rice that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.30 · Pick 30 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 34
In slot 30 they get a ballhawk on the back end. More want than need.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 51
A reach on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 58
Edgerrin Cooper at the 57th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 57
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chris Braswell at pick No. 73 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 71
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brenden Rice in No. 88. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · McKinnley Jackson · DL · rank 88
They did well to land McKinnley Jackson in pick 91, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 133
A reach for Will Shipley in the 125th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 123
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 35: Jarrian Jones for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 209
Jawhar Jordan in No. 203 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 208
Omar Speights at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 257
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dwight McGlothern well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Xavier Thomas · DE-EDGE · rank 255
Xavier Thomas at slot 246 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
