The war room fell hard for Spencer Rattler, and it showed at the 68th pick: 49 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Powers-Johnson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Legette at pick No. 34 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 47th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Spencer Rattler well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Khyree Jackson slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 3 is lovely value for the cornerback. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They did well to land Mohamed Kamara in No. 137, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tip Reiman at Round 6, Pick 5 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Garret Greenfield in the 193rd pick, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They liked Bub Means enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 231. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
