They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.

For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Barrett lower, and that gap is the story. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.2 · Pick 2 · Caleb Williams · QB · rank 2
In the 2nd pick they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 33
Fair-plus on Graham Barton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 37
Chop Robinson in pick No. 40 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 61
They did well to land Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · J. Michael Sturdivant · WR · rank 97
J. Michael Sturdivant at the 100th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 101
They paid sticker price for Dominick Puni in No. 102, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 141
They took Javion Cohen at par in Round 5, Pick 5, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 191
A premium they did not need to pay, Michael Barrett a notch or two before his time. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Xavier Restrepo · WR · rank 223
Xavier Restrepo at the 223rd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
