The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
They will need Briggs to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 8 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Adonai Mitchell went about where he belonged in the 34th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Morgan in the Round 2 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kiran Amegadjie at No. 68 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Renardo Green at par in slot 74, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Theo Johnson this early at the 103rd overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A premium they did not need to pay, Isaac Guerendo a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Ben Sinnott at Round 5, Pick 1 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They liked Delmar Glaze enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 180. The roster fit checks out.
Garret Greenfield in Round 6, Pick 18 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jowon Briggs well ahead of where he belonged. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
