Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Giants, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Walley pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. If Henderson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Graham Barton in the 39th pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
J.J. McCarthy at pick No. 47 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Johnny Wilson at slot 70, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Tommy Eichenberg in Round 4, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They took Shemar Turner at par in pick 136, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
LaDarius Henderson at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Justin Walley was the payoff at No. 185. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Nathaniel Watson in the 240th overall pick, a genuine coup. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
