This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kool-Aid McKinstry, the No. 19 name on the board, stolen at pick 37.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game. A clean fit for the roster.
Taking Kool-Aid McKinstry in the 37th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Johnny Wilson at the 76th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Leonard Taylor III in pick 105 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Nelson Ceaser at par in slot 113, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Dillon Johnson at No. 142, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
The board had Curtis Jacobs higher than Round 6, Pick 8, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Ja'Had Carter at pick No. 226 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
