They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Marcus Harris, 66 picks early at the 162nd pick.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. That Smith-Wade pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th pick they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Junior Colson well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had cheaper options than Audric Estime at slot 87, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Marcus Harris in pick No. 162 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Christian Jones at pick 165 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Chau Smith-Wade come to them and pounced at the 174th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

Mark Perry at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Jordan Whittington at slot 245 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
