Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Chargers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
The Muasau pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Chargers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Chop Robinson in slot 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Kris Jenkins in the 43rd pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, J.J. McCarthy at pick 44 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No edge and no loss on Ricky Pearsall in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mike Sainristil in Round 3, Pick 29 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jacob Cowing at No. 105 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ben Sinnott in pick No. 142 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Curtis Jacobs slid further than he should have, and pick 183 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They let Darius Muasau come to them and pounced at slot 226. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
