Call it larceny. T'Vondre Sweat sat on the board until No. 62, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board fumbled T'Vondre Sweat all the way to Round 2, Pick 30, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at pick 93, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value with a capital V on Jaylan Ford in No. 174, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Miles Frazier in the 212th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Walter Rouse, who had no business lasting to pick No. 251. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
