The Cowboys banked a tidy surplus when Javon Baker lasted to Round 6, Pick 20, a few spots past his grade. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Cowboys clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kris Jenkins in the Round 2 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
MarShawn Lloyd in the 119th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kris Abrams-Draine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tommy Eichenberg at Round 4, Pick 28 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Braelon Allen in No. 149 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Javon Baker in Round 6, Pick 20 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the 206th pick with a little surplus value in Omar Speights. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jalen Green in No. 212. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Joshua Cephus at the Round 7 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
