The Cardinals torched the value chart for Vernon Broughton, taking him 72 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
The Gabriel value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th pick they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 15 with a little surplus value in T.J. Sanders. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Vernon Broughton this early at No. 78. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Cody Simon in pick 114 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
