The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Evan Anderson went at the 233rd pick, a good 50 picks before the board was ready. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Beebe.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy bit of business in No. 56, where Cooper Beebe graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Audric Estime at Round 3, Pick 24 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached a country mile for Trente Jones at slot 174, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
JD Bertrand at pick No. 216 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Evan Anderson at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Zion Logue at pick 244, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
