Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Junior Colson got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at slot 135. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Bullard to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The back end got a real overhaul.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 19 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 41 with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They liked Javon Bullard enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Johnny Wilson in the 83rd overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach on Dominick Puni in pick 92; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cam Hart in No. 119 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Junior Colson in Round 4, Pick 35 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jase McClellan at the 197th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
