The tape said wait; the Cardinals did not. Nazir Stackhouse went at the Round 5 slot, a good 66 picks before the board was ready. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had Carson Beck higher than the 39th overall pick, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A quiet steal in No. 70: Bear Alexander for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Daylen Everette in pick 106 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They talked themselves into Nazir Stackhouse at the 142nd pick, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Brennan Presley, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
