The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Johnny Wilson slide 67 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. This is how you run a draft, and the A reflects it.
So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a seam-stretching tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.

Nate Wiggins at the 45th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Circle this one: Keon Coleman at pick 69 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Michael Pratt in No. 160 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Johnny Wilson in Round 6, Pick 18 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
