When a board-topper like Chase Bisontis slides to slot 99, you do not overthink it, and the Steelers did not.
A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. Wagner has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Budda Baker deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Christen Miller went about where he belonged in No. 57. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Antonio Williams come to them and pounced at pick No. 76. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Chase Bisontis at Round 3, Pick 35 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A conviction pick on Aamil Wagner at slot 161 that the board grades a round light. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Toriano Pride Jr.. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Zavion Thomas in pick 224 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Sawyer Robertson at the 230th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Keyshaun Elliott in Round 7, Pick 21 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
