Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The Fiske steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Troy Fautanu reach the 36th overall pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Darius Robinson in slot 40 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chris Braswell at Round 3, Pick 3 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Braden Fiske was still sitting there in pick No. 78, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in No. 100 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nehemiah Pritchett at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Luke McCaffrey in pick 152, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tanner McLachlan slipping to slot 222 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
