Thirty-one other rooms let Kurtis Rourke slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the 204th pick. Highway robbery. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They will need Sanders to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in slot 12, where Ashton Jeanty graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Jalon Walker at the 44th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Xavier Restrepo worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Jackson at No. 149 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Pat Bryant in pick 174 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Quincy Riley at pick No. 192 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Kurtis Rourke at the 204th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Willie Lampkin still on the board at Round 6, Pick 35. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ty Hamilton this early at the 216th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tonka Hemingway at pick 239 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Shilo Sanders, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
