The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Le'Veon Moss, the No. 145 name on the board, in the Round 7 slot.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Derrick Harmon at the 50th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Demetrius Knight Jr., who had no business lasting to pick 76. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Dylan Sampson in slot 102, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Jake Majors at Round 5, Pick 11 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Taking Kevin Winston Jr. in No. 168 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Chris Paul Jr. in pick No. 186 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Le'Veon Moss was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
