It is the swing that defines the weekend: DeMonte Capehart in the 245th overall pick, a good 22 spots before the room expected him.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That Colson pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Trey Benson in pick 87, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value with a capital V on Junior Colson in pick No. 124, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had Cedric Gray higher than the 128th pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Kaden Prather at the 174th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Magee in pick 212 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value said wait; DeMonte Capehart in slot 245 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
