The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Nick Emmanwori, the No. 20 name on the board, in No. 171.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Matthew Golden in Round 2, Pick 12 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 76th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to pick 149, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nick Emmanwori at slot 171 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Circle this one: Donovan Jackson at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Jacob Parrish here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 211 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Bhayshul Tuten at Round 7, Pick 23 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Isaac TeSlaa at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
