The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick No. 244 on Zion Logue a full 42 spots early.
Whatever Michael Penix Jr. becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Limmer makes the weekend a net positive.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in Round 1, Pick 11: Marvin Harrison Jr. for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
In pick 23 they get a cornerstone up front at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jonathon Brooks in pick No. 56. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Bralen Trice still on the board at slot 87. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy little value on James Williams in the 129th pick, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Beaux Limmer was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bub Means in the 216th pick, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a running back like Kendall Milton reach No. 233 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Zion Logue at pick 244, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
