Call it larceny. Spencer Rattler sat on the board until the 183rd overall pick, and the Giants did not need to be asked twice.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: safety settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
Malik Nabers at the 4th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
In slot 6 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Quinyon Mitchell at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 70 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Renardo Green in pick No. 107 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Isaac Guerendo all the way to Round 5, Pick 30, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Spencer Rattler in pick 183 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
