New York Giants

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Giants and Lassiter: B+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Kamari Lassiter had no business being available in the 70th pick, and the Giants did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 11
In pick 19 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 21
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Amarius Mims in No. 48, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 57
A clean, defensible pick in the 62nd overall pick with a little surplus value in Chris Braswell. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 26
Kamari Lassiter at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.19 · Pick 83 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 85
Gabriel Murphy in Round 3, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 91
They let Spencer Rattler come to them and pounced at the 107th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 82
Somehow Mike Sainristil was still sitting there in slot 115, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It fills a real need, too.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 103
Steal is underselling it; Dominick Puni at pick No. 134 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 120
Kris Abrams-Draine in No. 143 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.14 · Pick 150 · Luke McCaffrey · QB · rank 141
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 14, where Luke McCaffrey graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.21 · Pick 157 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 146
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dylan Laube at the 157th pick is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 164
Joe Milton III in pick 187 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · Eric Watts · DL-EDGE · rank 189
Nothing to complain about; Eric Watts went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
R6.22 · Pick 197 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 207
They jumped the gun on Gabe Hall, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 197
A tidy little value on Christian Jones in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.30 · Pick 205 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 184
Taking Isaiah Davis in pick No. 205 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.31 · Pick 206 · Austin Stogner · TE · rank 199
Austin Stogner at pick 206 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 195
JD Bertrand at Round 6, Pick 33 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Aki Ogunbiyi · OG · rank 192
You do not let an offensive lineman like Aki Ogunbiyi reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.38 · Pick 213 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 205
The board had Jared Wiley higher than No. 213, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.40 · Pick 215 · Jaylen Harrell · DE-EDGE · rank 201
Jaylen Harrell is a better player than the 215th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.36 · Pick 256 · Phil Jurkovec · QB · rank 236
Phil Jurkovec in slot 256 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
