Somebody in pick 141 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Ja'Lynn Polk, the No. 73 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
They will need Oladapo to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid a round early for Xavier Worthy in the 47th pick, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Cade Stover at No. 70, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Circle this one: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick 106 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Mike Sainristil at Round 4, Pick 7 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mekhi Wingo in slot 108 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached a country mile for Kitan Oladapo at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Ja'Lynn Polk at the 141st pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kamal Hadden at the 147th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Blake Fisher at pick No. 157 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Brennan Jackson at pick 183 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
