The rest of the league will want that one back. Roman Wilson tumbling to the Giants in the 138th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Steal is underselling it; Cooper DeJean at the 47th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cooper Beebe in No. 70 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They did well to land Ruke Orhorhoro in pick 72, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaylen Wright at Round 3, Pick 9 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Roman Wilson was still sitting there in the 138th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. still on the board at slot 141. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A slide stopped in pick No. 183, with Kamal Hadden worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
