When the story of this class is written, it opens with Trey Knox at the 178th pick, a reach of 45 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
Suamataia falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Giants clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a lockdown presence outside. A real need, handled.
In slot 25 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Dallas Turner at No. 47 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They will replay Bo Nix at pick 51 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Xavier Legette in the 70th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in No. 87, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Cole Bishop in pick No. 88; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 91st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Maason Smith at slot 107 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kingsley Suamataia in pick 126 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Blake Fisher in slot 141 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
