Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Taliese Fuaga, the No. 16 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 107th pick.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Michael Penix Jr. gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
If All pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 16 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 17th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jared Verse at pick 47 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Terrion Arnold in pick No. 70, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Taliese Fuaga was still sitting there in slot 107, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kitan Oladapo at the 141st pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Davis went about where he belonged in No. 153. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Erick All at Round 6, Pick 4, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Fabien Lovett. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Caedan Wallace in pick No. 192 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Magee in slot 212 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Edefuan Ulofoshio at No. 235, value and slot in agreement. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
They took KT Leveston at par in the 236th pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
