The phones were a trap the Giants kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it. The Jackson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The cost of the All reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Van Jefferson deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 10th pick they get a passer to set the clock by, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
JC Latham at No. 20 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
In the 23rd overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
You do not let a wide receiver like Brian Thomas Jr. reach pick 47 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Renardo Green at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No drama and no debate, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson went about where he belonged in slot 84. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trey Benson at pick No. 97. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Theo Johnson at slot 107 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Cole Bishop still on the board at Round 5, Pick 5. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Khyree Jackson at the 153rd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Fabien Lovett in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They went early on Myles Cole in pick 183, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Erick All at the 185th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jordan Travis at No. 192 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick No. 193 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Cody Schrader in the 212th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Caedan Wallace at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
KT Leveston at slot 236 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
