New York Giants

The Giants drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: D.

The Giants did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Morgan fell into slot 140.

Everything downstream of Caleb Williams depends on Caleb Williams, and the building knows it. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Reaching for Milton III left real value on the table behind him.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Caleb Williams · QB · rank 2
In No. 6 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
R1.9 · Pick 9 · Marvin Harrison Jr. · WR · rank 1
In the 9th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Laiatu Latu · DL-EDGE · rank 10
Laiatu Latu in slot 39 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 3
Taking Joe Alt in the 47th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 25
They will replay Kool-Aid McKinstry at pick No. 70 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 73
No drama and no debate, Kamren Kinchens went about where he belonged in No. 75. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · DJ James · CB · rank 87
A cornerback of that caliber at the 107th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 50
Junior Colson in Round 4, Pick 8 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 35
Jordan Morgan at pick 140 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.9 · Pick 145 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 136
Theo Johnson at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.10 · Pick 185 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 199
Joe Milton III at slot 185 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
