The Giants spent real capital to be 51 picks early on Isaac Rex, and the board is going to hold them to it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Abrams-Draine value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Rome Odunze in the 6th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
J.J. McCarthy in pick No. 47 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good price on Trey Benson in slot 74, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Matt Goncalves at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kris Abrams-Draine in No. 140 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Luke McCaffrey at pick 142 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Gabe Hall in the 190th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Jordan Magee all the way to the 221st overall pick, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaac Rex. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
