New York Giants

Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a D for the Giants.

The Giants torched the value chart for Caedan Wallace, taking him 60 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. So much rides on Drake Maye that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Landing Latu that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Marvin Harrison Jr. · WR · rank 1
In slot 13 they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.19 · Pick 19 · Drake Maye · QB · rank 7
In the 19th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
R1.26 · Pick 26 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In pick 26 they get a problem off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter.
R1.27 · Pick 27 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 23
In the 27th pick they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 40
Fair-plus on Tyler Nubin, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Adonai Mitchell · WR · rank 32
They read the board right and Adonai Mitchell was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Laiatu Latu · DL-EDGE · rank 11
A edge rusher of that caliber at pick 51 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Renardo Green · S · rank 76
No edge and no loss on Renardo Green in Round 3, Pick 6; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Cade Stover · TE · rank 74
Cade Stover at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.36 · Pick 99 · Max Melton · CB · rank 77
Max Melton at the 99th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 86
Circle this one: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick No. 107 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Michael Hall Jr. · DT · rank 82
Steal is underselling it; Michael Hall Jr. at the 108th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 105
Zak Zinter in No. 109 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 118
They liked Blake Fisher enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 110. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 128
A conviction pick on Isaac Guerendo at the 111th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 96
The board had Brenden Rice higher than No. 112, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 113
A straight-up fair deal on Cedric Gray at slot 113, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Javon Solomon · OLB-EDGE · rank 116
Javon Solomon in pick 125 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster logic is harder to follow.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Anthony Gould · WR · rank 142
Anthony Gould at pick No. 126 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
Kitan Oladapo at the 135th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 200
They reached into another round for Steele Chambers, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R5.17 · Pick 153 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 213
Caedan Wallace in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.18 · Pick 154 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 168
A reach for Kamal Hadden in pick No. 154; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Tyrone Tracy Jr. · WR · rank 151
The board fumbled Tyrone Tracy Jr. all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · AJ Barner · TE · rank 172
AJ Barner at the 183rd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.17 · Pick 192 · Fabien Lovett · DL · rank 184
Value with a capital V on Fabien Lovett in slot 192, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
