You can hear the double-takes from here. The Giants took Caedan Wallace at the 172nd overall pick, roughly 41 spots before his name belonged. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
The Mims value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Caleb Williams in No. 7. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
In pick No. 24 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Value with a capital V on Terrion Arnold in Round 2, Pick 2, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Jared Verse in the 47th overall pick, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Nate Wiggins all the way to pick 70, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Graham Barton in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for J.J. McCarthy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
