This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaheim Bell, the No. 141 name on the board, stolen at No. 238. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.
Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Hall reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The Giants clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 15 they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 16th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A quiet steal in the Round 1 slot: Jer'Zhan Newton for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jayden Daniels at the 39th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taliese Fuaga in pick No. 40 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kool-Aid McKinstry in slot 41 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
JC Latham in the 47th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ja'Tavion Sanders in Round 3, Pick 6 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Audric Estime in pick 101 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Marshawn Kneeland slid further than he should have, and No. 120 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Jarvis Brownlee Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Cade Stover at slot 127 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Somehow Ray Davis was still sitting there in No. 140, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Jacob Cowing at pick No. 141 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Dominick Puni reach pick 142 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 184th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Malik Mustapha at the 185th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Javion Cohen at Round 6, Pick 14 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Gabe Hall in Round 6, Pick 26; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Jontrey Hunter at No. 225 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Luke McCaffrey at the 226th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Jaheim Bell in slot 238, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Jordan Magee all the way to the 253rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Taulia Tagovailoa graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
