New York Giants

Daniels is the plan now, and the Giants grade out a D.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Giants shredded theirs for Steele Chambers. He came off 36 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Getting Fautanu where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.15 · Pick 15 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 6
In pick No. 15 they get the arm they will build around at a price that makes it sweeter.
R1.16 · Pick 16 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 10
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R1.21 · Pick 21 · Jared Verse · DE-EDGE · rank 12
In the 21st pick they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 20
You do not let a cornerback like Nate Wiggins reach slot 43 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 24
The board fumbled Kool-Aid McKinstry all the way to No. 47, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 21
Troy Fautanu in pick 73 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 68
A clean, defensible pick in No. 75 with a little surplus value in Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 71
Nothing to complain about; Jaylen Wright went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Cade Stover · TE · rank 74
A tidy little value on Cade Stover in slot 77, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Devontez Walker · WR · rank 70
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.35 · Pick 98 · Renardo Green · S · rank 76
Renardo Green at the 98th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cole Bishop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.7 · Pick 107 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 118
They liked Blake Fisher enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 7. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 122
A conviction pick on Theo Johnson at pick 112 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 128
Isaac Guerendo at Round 4, Pick 17 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Maason Smith · DT · rank 110
They barely believed it either: Maason Smith still on the board at No. 136. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 131
The board had Sataoa Laumea higher than pick 141, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Anthony Gould · WR · rank 142
Anthony Gould in the 143rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.11 · Pick 147 · Marcus Harris · DE-EDGE · rank 153
A straight-up fair deal on Marcus Harris at slot 147, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Fabien Lovett · DL · rank 184
A big swing on Fabien Lovett at pick No. 158, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.28 · Pick 164 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 200
Value said wait; Steele Chambers in the 164th pick says they were not listening. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R5.39 · Pick 175 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 182
No edge and no loss on Ty'Ron Hopper in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 213
Caedan Wallace at pick 179 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · Myles Cole · DE-EDGE · rank 199
A reach on Myles Cole in the 183rd overall pick; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.16 · Pick 191 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 195
By-the-book stuff, Trente Jones at pick No. 191 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.17 · Pick 192 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 201
A reach for Joe Milton III in the 192nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
R6.23 · Pick 198 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 164
They robbed the room for Walter Rouse here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Erick All · TE · rank 203
They paid sticker price for Erick All in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Javontae Jean-Baptiste · DE-EDGE · rank 218
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at Round 6, Pick 37 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.15 · Pick 235 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 222
Jordan Magee slid further than he should have, and slot 235 is lovely value for the linebacker. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.16 · Pick 236 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 214
Nathaniel Watson at No. 236 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
