The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Daijun Edwards, the No. 132 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 185 like a gift left on the doorstep.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Olumuyiwa Fashanu at the 39th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Keon Coleman in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for T.J. Tampa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Brenden Rice still on the board at the 108th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Kris Abrams-Draine at No. 140 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Daijun Edwards in slot 185, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
