Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Giants came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Just about everything broke right, and the A follows.
However the rest shakes out, Williams at that price is a win they earned. They will need Hall to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Bottom line, with Troy Franklin leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Troy Franklin slid further than he should have, and No. 37 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had Kamari Lassiter higher than Round 2, Pick 7, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Adonai Mitchell graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Kingsley Suamataia went about where he belonged in the 55th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Brandon Dorlus at par in pick No. 70, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Spencer Rattler in the 86th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Mike Sainristil was still sitting there in pick No. 99, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Tykee Smith for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at Round 5, Pick 3, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in No. 140, with Jarrian Jones worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Gabe Hall this early at the 185th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Isaiah Williams at pick 224 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Brevyn Spann-Ford went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach for Xavier Thomas in the 246th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Donovan Jennings at Round 7, Pick 32 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
