Somebody took the Giants to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
Whatever J.J. McCarthy becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They banked enough surplus on Bullock to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Fisher pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Rob Havenstein gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 17th pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
In pick 18 they get a press-man option on the boundary. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In slot 20 they get a franchise quarterback, even if it was a touch early.
Tyler Nubin in No. 47 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Keon Coleman all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Darius Robinson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy little value on Renardo Green in the 84th overall pick, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson went about where he belonged in pick No. 85. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Trey Benson in the 86th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Blake Fisher, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Brenden Rice in slot 123 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Calen Bullock at pick 141 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
DeWayne Carter in Round 5, Pick 18 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Davis. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Anthony Gould still on the board at slot 183. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
