The Giants treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 5, Pick 20 on Caedan Wallace a full 57 spots early. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
On value alone, Brownlee Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 10th pick they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Jayden Daniels went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
In pick No. 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in pick 56. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cade Stover at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They went early on Renardo Green in the 70th overall pick, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in pick 72 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Jaylen Wright in the 73rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cole Bishop in slot 97 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Brenden Rice in the 98th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kamari Lassiter in No. 99 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
MarShawn Lloyd is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Cedric Gray in pick No. 112, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Spencer Rattler in Round 4, Pick 20 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Blake Fisher in Round 4, Pick 26 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 141 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Xavier Thomas at slot 150 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Caedan Wallace in pick 156 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Fabien Lovett well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Walter Rouse at pick No. 161 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Jefferson at the 168th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Myles Cole at the 169th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
