Nobody had Trey Knox this high, and it is not close. The Giants reached 79 spots to get him at the 209th overall pick. Put together, it is a D-.
That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 6 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 32 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Nubin in the 70th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Braden Fiske at the 71st pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Ja'Tavion Sanders in slot 72 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Darius Robinson still on the board at the 166th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Andru Phillips here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kamren Kinchens in No. 170, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
You do not let a running back like Isaiah Davis reach the 175th overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Christian Mahogany in slot 183 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Nathan Thomas in Round 6, Pick 15; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Maason Smith at pick 199 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Luke McCaffrey at the 200th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Magee at No. 204 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Knox well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing M.J. Devonshire in the 213th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Trente Jones at pick 217, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
