Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Giants, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.
Jayden Daniels is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Zinter reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They did well to land Jared Verse in pick 17, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
JC Latham in the 18th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bo Nix in the 39th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy little value on Ja'Tavion Sanders in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Adonai Mitchell is a better player than slot 47 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Junior Colson at pick No. 57 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Braden Fiske at No. 70. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Max Melton at the 75th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kamren Kinchens at the 76th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zak Zinter in pick No. 96 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in slot 112, with Trey Benson worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fair-plus on Renardo Green, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Cole Bishop was the payoff at pick 126. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Sataoa Laumea at pick No. 140 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Davis at Round 5, Pick 5 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Brennan Jackson at slot 165 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Kamal Hadden in No. 185 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Steele Chambers at the 186th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A straight-up fair deal on Joe Milton III at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jared Wiley at pick 239 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
